Dear Sisters and Brothers

During this past year we have seen things that I thought would never happen. The Amalgamated Transit Union Latino Caucus had their annual conference in Allentown Pennsylvania in September with a new record in attendances; San Rafael Local 1575 became the 15th chapter to join the Latino Caucus, and the Election of the first African American president Barack Obama.

Things are changing in America and we need to be one step ahead of all of the challenges that are coming from everywhere. At job sites you can see new immigrants coming from all parts of the world and working hard for what the American dream is: a home, education for our children and health care for family members.

The ATULC provides a Scholarship Program for students who graduated from high school and will be attending a Junior College, State college or Universities. Some of the local ATULC have their own scholarship programs for their local family members and in 2009 San Rafael Local 1575 will be presenting a scholarship as well.

The Latino Caucus will be celebrating twenty years in 2009 and wants to be a leader in what will be historical changes in America . We need your help in keeping this tradition going strong. Please ask anyone in your local interested in becoming a member to visit our website   www.atulc.org  Help us in making this one of the greatest union in America .

In Solidarity

The Amalgamated Transit Union International Latino Caucus.
